Re: news service

For a while my phone number must have been on a list of "people who answer the phone and answer questions". I got called at least once a week from some major survey going on for at least a 6 month period, and Jeff is completely correct. Not only are the surveys rigged, but the people perfo...

Re: How about 30,000?

Well, then I guess I disagree with Article the First. I feel that 50,000 will ensure that mostly executives, business owners, local contractors, and other middle class types will be able to run, but not the average citizen, and certainly not the poor. I have a feeling we can get a lot of support fro...

Re: Let's build a forum!

Can you check if there is an option to enable embedding YouTube videos? There is a way to put YouTube videos right into posts by using: MkSHg3JV_V8 which would embed this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkSHg3JV_V8 right into the post, so members don't have to open it into a second window. It ...

Re: I am not in favor of 'enlarging the house'

Well, next to my name it says "Pro-Enlargement". (o; I'm okay if people ask questions and don't understand immediately, I just don't want to use something that they immediately reject In the few postings I've seen on this concept, enlarging the house seems to be considered a negative aspec...

Re: How about 30,000?

So how about 30,000 instead of 50,000? I am very concerned that a plutocracy minor would form - laws would be made around contractors, executives, and professionals, because the cost of winning an election would be beyond the means of the poor, so representatives would have very little to fear from ...

I am not in favor of 'enlarging the house'

I am in favor of increasing the value of each person's vote and making the office available to the everyone.. The enlarging of the house, while it does have its benefits, is really just a side benefit. I feel that if someone first reads 'enlarge the house', it doesn't sound all that appealing. We wa...

Re: Repealing the 17th amendment

I was hesitant to enter the fray on this one, but I gave in to temptation. This is always a challenge in these types of forums, to not enter into sideline intellectual debates and discussions which confuse the issue. I remember the same thing happening to Ron Paul in his interview with Tim Russell w...

Repealing the 17th amendment

The 17th is completely out of the scope of TTO, but I completely agree that its repeal, or really , correction, is probably the second most important thing right after increasing the value of the vote and opening up the House to the average citizen. Not to go too far into it, but the issue that the ...

How about 30,000?

I had a conversation with the chairman of the Silicon Valley GOP about various offices to run for. The discussion really was not about my running for office, but just about what it takes in general to get people elected to office. He told me that to run for the house of representatives there are onl...

Re: Let's build a forum!

halebobbdotcom, if you are truly an Austrian School Libertarian, then you would have considered that we have carefully weighed the benefits and drawbacks of limiting discussion in our forum and, instead of behaving like a bull in a china shop, taken a more humble approach while inquiring why we have...

Re: Let's build a forum!

Jeff, the two strategies are nearly exactly the ones that I was going to suggest. The 'how and where we get support' and the 'how to actually do the legal stuff'. One of the things I really want to contribute to and help with is to make increasing representation relevant. To demonstrate and open up ...

Re: Let's build a forum!

I think the only reason to keep signatures is simply self-expression, which really is what the post is supposed to be for. I don't like forums that are devoid of all individuality. I can understand it in a blog, such as Daily Kos does, but the forum I think is a little different. I think you should ...

Re: Let's build a forum!

vBulletin is just a different forum software, similar to phpBB. However, it requires the purchase of a license because it is a private company. It's generally considered to be very user friendly while having lots of mods available for it. It also has free tech support via email and an optional $60 p...

Re: Let's build a forum!

With regards to the above post, can make a strategy category? It seems like there isn't really anywhere to discuss strategy. Can we increase the number of posts viewed on each page? I think that's an admin option because I couldn't find it in my control panel. Can we change the name of the 'General ...

Re: Let's build a forum!

I was also having temporary problems logging onto the site. Every page was taking about 15 seconds to load, even the home page, but that seems to be resolved now. I think the problem with the number of clicks to this post is too many sub-categories. I really believe that we should expand sub-categor...
